Have you ever disliked a really popular tourist destination? Around one week ago I was burning out in Rishikesh. For those not in the know Rishikesh is a backpacker hub and India's numero uno yoga destination. Loads of people love Rishikesh. To be honest, I thought it was awful. Highly commercialized spirituality and wellness, crowds everywhere you go, the same old backpacker stuff found everywhere between here and Southeast Asia. I needed to escape to somewhere actually peaceful. After a bit of frantic late night googling with friends, we set our sights on Khirsu village several hours away from Rishikesh. Oh was it the right decision. Breakfasts on a grassy terrace with snowy Himalayas in the background. Walks in the forest with only chirping birds and monkey calls breaking the silence. Yep, Khirsu was far more relaxing for me than Rishikesh could ever be. Sometimes there's pressure to like places simply because other people love them. I know I feel uncomfortable saying I disliked India's backpacker favorite. But every person is different. We all have things we love and things we hate, and sometimes those go against the grain. Only you can decide what's right for you. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Who else is missing mountains?! . I have been in the city for quite a long time now with itchy feet and empty pockets 🙈 . But it's pictures and memories like these which keep me motivated to head on to big expeditions soon. I was scrolling through my expedition photos from last year and came across this one taken enroute Kedartal on the journey to scale Auden's Col, where Thalay Sagar and Bhrigupanth are peeking into the frame. . Hope to start getting up in the mountains soon, wish me luck guys! . #kedartal #uttarakhand #glacialpool #pool #water #green #himalayas #thalaysagar #snowpeaks #travelrealindia #hubs_united #indiaclicks #_soi #oph #mypixeldiary #artofvisuals #photographers_of_india #moodygrams #agameoftones #indiapictures #indianphotography #dslrofficial #desi_diaries #storiesofindia #eclectic_shotz #theimaged #hubsunited #thevisualyatra #tripotocommunity
