The best walking trail from Trafalgar Square in London

Previously, I covered the historical Borough Market in London and shared my experience of what dishes I have tried out there. If you have not checked my blog post, click this link. It will directly take you there. Today’s post is an extension to Borough Market journey.  

From Borough Market, I went to the iconic London Eye. I was shocked to see a huge crowd, especially people waiting in the queue for their London Eye ride, when I got there. I avoided it because it was of no use; however, you can book your tickets if you are all excited to ride.  That day, the weather was so chilly that I wanted to stop the trip and return to Reading for a moment.

Westminister Bridge to Oxford Street via Trafalgar Square

From there, I started walking crossed the Westminster Bridge first, Then the Palace of Westminster and reached out to famous Trafalgar Square, located in Central London. Trafalgar Square was built around the 19th century to show respect to the Battle of Trafalgar, the British Naval victory over France and Spain in Napoleonic wars between 1800-1815.  

The square is especially famous for its National Gallery. Travellers throng here throughout the year. Also, if I am not wrong, a Bollywood movie song was shot here. The song name is Challa from the movie Jab Tak Hai Jaan. One of the main actors of that movie was the king of Bollywood. This public square is also the gateway to London’s main shopping center.  

So, I continued my journey further and saw these beautiful shopping markets, and these are as follows: 

1. Haymarket
2. Piccadilly Circus 
3. Oxford Street
4. Regent Street   

I was mesmerized to see the footfall on that day. It is a busy shopping street one will find many shopping brands over here, from Hamley’s to The Body Shop to H & M and what not. If you are a shopaholic, this place will not spoil your mood. Some of the iconic attractions during this walk from Trafalgar Square to Oxford Street are as follows:  

1. The Majesty Theatre
2. The Empire Cinemas
3. Hard Rock Cafe 
4. The Criterion Restaurant (The Place where Sherlock Holmes met Dr Watson for the first time, as mentioned in the book.)
5. Criterion Theatre
6. Vintage Cars Exhibition
